How to Read Poetry

Okay so before reading this section on how to read poetry I thought I had it down.  Poetry was something I loved ever since I was a young child.  Actually, it was what started me on my path to being a reader.  I loved the rhythm that poems carry and the meaning being not directly given to you, but investigated as a reader.  I found myself not reading the way the book said, instead I read with a beat and investigated meanings of words from the get go.
