Importance of Reading

Ok after that test there was just one question that really makes it so I need to vent.  Yes we all need to read, no not just what we are assigned.  Reading is what teaches us to analyze, think, disagree, learn to write, and to enjoy life.  Children need to actually start loving to read.  We can only do this by encouraging it and providing opportunity for them to grow as readers.  We need to help them develop a love for reading.  As a parent this I must model to my child.  I also must keep myself up to date and engaged as reading to help keep my intelligence and brain sane!  Okay, I know you think I am nuts, but seriously!  The cuts we took this year to start out next years school year will be devastating.  It is time we put our foot down and save literacy for our children and students!
