Learning about Predicting

This week I learned a lot about slowing down and looking for passages that help me foreshadow what is to happen.  I guess in the past I have never really took the time to slow down and read more carefully at what the author is trying to help me see, but today I did.  It was so easy to make prediction when I looked for passages that could imply something.  When I was first assigned the role of the passagist I thought for sure I was going to fail that but I think I succeeded.  I really learned a lot about myself and why I may struggle with details.   I always read so fast just trying to understand the large points in the story, but when I slowed down and tried to connect to it is when I started remembering the details more easily.  Now I feel more capable to teach my future students the importance of looking for passages in a story and seeing what they mean to you and how they will impact their understanding of the story.

I absolutely love predicting stories. Sometimes they come very easy and other times they are much more tricky. When I read, I also agree that I read too fast and miss some key details. I am always in a hurry to find out what happens next. However, there are times when specific passages jump out at me and tell me to remember something. None the less, I totally agree with your decision to slow down your reading and pay attention to more detail.
